Yeah, I thought of that one immediately.

I have a Bob Will CD and "Roly Poly" starts with the aftermath from a previous take where somebody screwed up. Everybody is laughing and they sound like cool fun guys having fun making a record. Pretty cool considering everyone was recording at once, and one person fucking up meant everyone had to do over.

The Man I Love
Miles Davis is the Eric Clapton of Jazz. Sort of. I would have loved to see Monk kick his ass.
I find adherence to fantasy troubling and unreasonable.

Well, if by that you mean that he was at the forefront of the invention of a new genre (sub-genre?) about four times in his career (cool, hard bop, modal, fusion), then yeah, I guess he would be about the exact opposite of Eric Clapton. Sure he had a lot of help, but surrounding yourself with that kind of talent is an art in itself. Regarding Monk kicking his ass, Miles had this to say: "If I had ever said anything about punching Monk out in front of his face--and I never did--then somebody should have just come and got me and taken me to the madhouse, because Monk could have just picked my little ass up and thrown me through a wall."
"Badness is only spoiled goodness."

I dig the non-controversial studio chatter tapes of Brian Wilson found on the hundred or so Sea of Tunes CD bootlegs. Some full CD's follow the evolution of one song being created take by take with chatter in-between. The Pet Sounds and Smile discs are real standouts. Worth finding for trade if you can.

Here's a bit of that Phil Spector stuff....

Great fun listening to this stuff. You can really see where Brian Wilson's influences came from...

I used to have an mp3 of Barry White repeatedly flubbing a radio spot, which got pretty hysterical by the end...

"Join me on Frida-....this asshole fucked these words up, man....He's got words here he don't even need..."

If only I could find my copy of a casette taped off the board at the Record Plant in the late Eighties with the Everly Brothers dukin' it out during a session. LMFAO when I heard it.
