From what I understand, it is the piano through the Eventide, but the key ingrediant was the mountain of cocaine on top of the Eventide. That Berlin period was genius, but it wasn't so good for Bowie's constitution.

haha. I'm back on board. Thanks!space_ryerson wrote:I think 'Scary Monsters' was recorded in New York, but I won't disagree about the cocaine.
Trashy: Sorry. I don't know if this helps, but according to Visconti: "Dennis Davis actually turned to Bruce Springsteen, so casual was the ambiance, and asked, "What band are you in?""

and then with a single, solitary tear he told how he'd had to shoot his motorcycle. And then he stared into the sunset. And then it got dark, and the lights of the lonely city reflected off his sunglasses. And he realized he had lived way beyond his era. And the rest is too sad to tell.
Perhaps now is a good time for some mindless sax...

Speaking of the E Street Band. I ran into Max Wienberg a few years ago at a Deli in NYC. In typical tourist fashion, I told him what a fan I was of the Conan O'Brian show. He invited me to sit with him and his Mom. Nice guy. He said, "I'll set aside a few tickets for you and your pals. Come by the show tomorrow." I say, "Sure deal."
I didn't go to Conan the next day, thinking the whole ticket thing was a nice, but sure to be forgotten gesture. Low and behold, I saw Max again at the same Deli a few days later. He approached ME this time: "Hey! Where were you? I set aside those tickets, and you didn't show. It's not like the Letterman show. We don't have a million people trying to get in!"
Trip on that...
