I've got a '78 4001. It's sooo not a one trick pony. Every time I've recorded it (at "real" studios), the engineer and/or producer has commented that it's the best they've ever had to work with.

I will never get rid of this bass. It's been around the world with me, it never goes out of tune, it never craps out on me, it weighs a ton (which I like), it plays like a dream and sounds like the "Bass of god."

Go play a bunch, and you'll see why most people who go the Rick route, never look back.

Wow. Thank you all for your comments. I'll have to take her to try some out. I think she wants a new one, which I was told has a push/pull switch on the tone knob that takes it from "that old sound" to something more like a Pbass...I guess. That is how a salesman described it...although I'll have to just see for myself. I play a Brydland Elitist, if anyone has a reccomendation for something that would compliment a hollowbody like this. She is my bass player...
