Drumsound on the Bass!?! please listen
Well, as my screen name implies I am a trained drummer. But near the end of last year I joined a band as the bass player. We're a power pop group called The Redgraves. I decided to set up mics and record rehearsal Friday night (5/11/07). I did a mix (with 2 small edits) and just posted over on the band's Myspace page.
I multitracked to RADAR and ended up using the vocals from a DI off the rehearsal PA, which means all of the vocals are on the same track. I set up separate vocal mics by there were just screwing too much with the drum sound to be useful.
Please take a listen to The Redgraves song Pesimisti.

best thread ever and a good song! It sounds like it belongs on the first Imperial Teen album, which I adore.
The band entrance after the "uh huh!" is the hardest part. The bass is what's holding it together. You might try different ways of arranging it, staggering the entrances different ways. Maybe the second-to-last time just voice and the Weezer guitar and then full-out r a w k the last time

Thanks for the nice comments about the song, and the bass.sears wrote:best thread ever and a good song! It sounds like it belongs on the first Imperial Teen album, which I adore.

We'll try some of these arrangement tricks when we do a proper recording.
