sending protools mix to tube amp.

Post by K.Hendriksen » Wed Aug 22, 2007 3:32 pm

i am new to this board and i am posting like a mad man. ok i havent done this yet but am considering while mixing. i work with a pro tools LE m-box, i like it but the sound is dull. i am always looking for creative ideas for my mix. has anyone ever tried sending their mix out of your m-box into a few tubed guitar amps, recording those amps and blending it in with the mix? i'm not a studio guru, i dont have money but i have a lot old amps and gear that i am trying to find new ways to use besides just playing out of them.

You can do it, but you will have to slide the track back so it is in phase with the main mix. I have done it with elements within a mix with a good results (vox, drums, bass guitars). Use a reamp box. it will make the levels and impedance match. you will need 2 for a stereo mix, unless you do it in 2 passes... have fun with it!
Oh, excuse me! Do you mind if I date yer punkin?
