Help me identify this sweet Premap?

Post by drummerdan » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:09 pm

This little gem was given to me a few years ago. The only thing I know about it is it's the best sounding preamp i've ever heard. If anyone has any info (like what it's worth) on this unit, i'd love to know. I can't find any info about it online, except for the opamp details on Jensen's website. Thanks!

I remember those things, but I've never used one. For some reason, my brain wants to tie in some kind of association with John Hardy, but I could be wrong about that.

Looks like they make home audio stuff now:

There is a wiki on them, but not much info.

I'm going to go with "Jensen Twin Servo 990 " also since it says that right on the front of the unit...

The mic preamp in the photo is the original Jensen Twin Servo 990 Mic Preamp which was built to Deane Jensen's specs by the Boulder company. This began sometime in 1986.

My M-1 came out in 1987, and I showed it to Deane Jensen shortly thereafter. Sometime in 1988, Deane was having issues with the management at Boulder, so he canceled the original Twin Servo product and then approached me about making an updated version of it using the M-1 package format as the basis for it. The result is the Jensen Twin Servo 990 Mic Preamp that I have been manufacturing since late 1988 or so. It is pictured on my home page, and further information is available on the PRODUCTS page. Thanks.
