cassette w/ balanced line-in's

Post by drummerdan » Tue Oct 16, 2007 12:34 pm

I was wondering if anyone knew of a small, 2 or 4 track cassette recorder that has balanced line in's (pref 2). Does such a thing exist, or should I keep dreaming?

I think the Tascam 122 has balanced in.

you could always unbalance and line level shift your balanced line right before the cassette deck..you will have to put a transformer in the path but hey..a lot of people like what transformers do to sound!

Besides a few Tascam models, the Nakamichi MR1 cassette deck also has balanced i/o - they can be pricy and hard to find though.

A more affordable option might be the Denon CD/cassette DNT-6xx series combo decks, which has balanced i/o on XLR, along with unbalanced RCA i/o. I really like my DN-T625 in fact.

Small as in portable? If so, I think the Marantz PMD 222 cassette had balanced inputs, though I may be thinking of a different model... it's been a while.

Or are you think like a multi-track deck like a Tascam 424 or something?

Otherwise, the rack-mount studio cassette decks mentioned above, Tascam 122, Tascam 112 (with LA-112 option), Nakamichi MR-1, Denon DN-780 (with option board), and a bunch of others.

What's the application you're looking at?
