PCI Card or Firewire?

Post by swedishstudios » Sat Dec 29, 2007 8:44 am

I am currently on the search for a new computer set up for my recording. I am still trying to figure out whether I want to go with Mac or PC. I was wondering what is the difference is in the quality of using a recording set up that uses a PCI card or a firewire?

thanks

PCI and PCIe beats FW if you're interested in the lowest possible latency

FW uses saftey buffers and, when you get into large track counts you'd have to use, in the case of RME gear (possibly the best FW gear out there), bandwidth limiting in order to keep your buffers low.
