I couldn't live without my 1983 Ibanez Roadstar. Dual humbuckers, maple neck. Blonde on blonde. It's got a face only a mother could love, but I can't stay away from that high-radius fretboard.

And now I have two 1983 Ibanez Roadstars with dual humbuckers, maple necks, blonde on blonde. You can see a photo of me playing the "older" one (actually a month newer) on my MySpace page. I suspect that this guitar used to belong to Joey Santiago of the Pixies.

Has mjau already posted in this thread? He thinks not, although he's drunk enough to not give a shit either way.
Telecaster. Even though mjau is 6'4", he still think a tele looks amazing nestled up to his rock hard abs.

I am honestly surprised to be the first Les Paul on this thread. Maybe a '59 re-issue, but I can cover a lot of ground with a good standard. With a bit of EQ, I can make my LP sound like my Telecaster, but not so much the other way around. Besides, nothing FEELS like a Les Paul.

Wire an LP up for coil tap, phase reverse, and series/parallel and you've got a really flexible axe. Ok, I just love 'em, I've cast my vote.

Not that I don't love my Tele, also. If I had to keep only one, it would be the LP though.

Telecaster. No question. Something like my current one (heavily modified '85 Made in Japan with a Dimarzio Evolution in the bridge position and a PAF Pro in the neck position, wired for coil tap on both pickups and phase reverse on the rear, with a Kahler flat-mount trem) but without the trem and with a lower output bridge pickup. Maybe something like my friend's '61 Tele reproduction but with a flatter neck and six piece bridge.

I'm in disbelief that I'm the first to say a strat. Rosewood fretboard, fat neck, tremolo blocked off or hard tail. Any decent single coil pu's, I like fender Texas Specials. I can get pretty much any tone I need out of a strat.

I own a Hamer 335 copy, a G&L tribute ASAT, a 70's Ibanez Artist and a G&L tribute Legacy (strat copy), and if I had to pick one I'd take the Legacy.

You and me both! Don't get me wrong, a telecaster/ASAT is a great guitar, and I love mine, I just never knew they were so popular. They're not that flexible, either, IMHO.

We're up to 9 votes for a telecaster or tele-style, and less than 4 of everything else.

My biggest beef with the tele-style guitars is the microphonic feedback of the bridge plate at high gain/high volume settings.

I think a 1966 hardtail Strat through a 1966 Deluxe Reverb is about the best tone.
