importing finale files in to pro tools le- bpm changed

Post by christiannokes » Tue Sep 09, 2008 4:02 pm

So we had some charts made in finale for a drum part. We imported the file into pro tools and the tempo (130 on the finale file) doesn't match up with the click track (130 on pro tools).

What could cause this?

How can I fix this?

Then we imported the finale as midi tracks but I am not sure how to give the midi files samples off of our Triton kybd.

Does anybody know how to do this or anything that will clear my confusion?

thanks

It sounds like you imported a 48k file into a 44.1k session (or the other way around)

You either need to re-export it at the sample rate of the protools session or change the protools session to the same sample rate as the file.

Pro tools defaults to 120 bpms. If you imported wav or aif files as samples and ticks ( i think, the one with the green triangle ) and THEN changed the bpms in Pro Tools this would elongate the wav files making them not sync up.

I dont have PT in front of my but if you are using wav you need to have them import as whatever it is that makes the samples imported with the blue dot on the channel, not the green triangle.

Otherwise, you probably have what he said above going on, 48khz file in 44.1khz session or reverse of that etc.

Sorry for the lack of better description ( green triangles or blue dots ) but I dont have PT in front of me.
