New Space: TOMB-ing the progress.
We built a garage...
The upstairs will be my new studio...
Rod Gervais' book is on order. green glue & ultra-touch will be...
Dimensions: 15' wide, 21' long, 9' ceiling.
These dimensions are remarkably similar to this Wes Lachot design:
There is extra square footage in the truss bays, that I would like to use for storage, bass trapping and absorption. The one on the left here, I'm going to isolate and use as a small machine room:
If anyone has suggestions... I'm very open. I'll try to post progress here. Here's the view:
Cheers!

Much Progress
I have framed out the truss bays, added sub floors to them, hung, textured and finished the drywall, painted, and laid the floor. Just a couple pictures:
The Rhodes, Music Man and Ampeg came in handy as floor weights.
All that remains is trim, a little touch up and acoustic treatment. What a dream... hard earned.

floor
After much discussion, debate and thought, I went with a laminate floor... similar to pergo. That stuff looks a lot better these days. It was 1/3 the cost of a "real" wood floor of the type that this one simulates, and I put it in myself with help from neighbors. To the un-trained eye, it's just as good. And, to my ears, sounds just about the same as the sub floor. Maybe a touch brighter at the high end.

acoustic treatment
I'll consider your products for sure. I've learned a great deal from reading your posts... and those of Ethan's. But, my friend has an attic filled with panels of 703, and I'll probably start by making some sleeves for them.
Would you suggest taking baseline acoustic readings before I add treatment? If so, can you suggest a fairly easy method for a novice?
I have to say that the room sounds pretty darn good to me. I'll post pictures of what I did in the corners, to help with bass absorption.

I just found this:

Any opinions on "swept sine" vs. pink noise for analyzing a room?
