I just love them close-mic'ed on a heavily distorted electric rhythm guitar, works especially well if your layering multiple mic/amp/gtr combinations. Dull, creamy, and beautiful. Rounded top end, not at all spikey, sits extremely well in a dense mix. Perfect if you have to record a Solid-State amp.

damn fine goalie back in his day, especially with Montreal in winning 4 Stanley Cups, not quite Sawchuk but still a fine netminder... :)

I use m 635a's anywhere I'd put a 57. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but it never sounds bad. I like them electric and acoustic guitar, as a heart mic on drums, sometimes for vocals, upright piano, under snare, bowed saw. They can be pretty decent as a room mic too.
love your recordings man.

weakerthans are definitely one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. when did you work with them?
Thanks!
I toured North America playing keys with those guys for their Reconstruction Site tour and then did some engineering for their last record (Reunion Tour). I did most of the final overdubs before mixing - horns, some guitars and keys, percussion, and other odds and ends. I also tracked most or all of the spoken word song (who's name I can't remember, Doh!). Great guys. My band stole their rhythm section for a few years. Good times.

Ok, sorry for the digression, back to the original post.
NICE!
