I got:

A portable stream cleaner for rugs, couches, and cars
A magic bullet...which my girlfriend says we already have but I've never seen it so it might get returned
Some really nice shirts I picked out from Macy's
A new GPS, because my old one died
Some Christmas cash
Random stuff

But, I really hoping in putting that Christmas cash towards a pair of C460B's, and last night I found a pair on Gearslutz in my price range and snatched them up! I need to get one more C414B-ULS and C460B, send them out to Jim Williams, and get a RE20 and I'll have every microphones I want/need.

Tape Op Vol II book, which is FANTASTIC
Some iTunes gift cards, which so far have turned into Megafaun & Akron / Family
a Mac
and I got my wife a Kindle and an iPod Touch, both of which I'll probably use, too

Oh, and I found a Hill Multimix in my space that I forgot about, so that's kind of like getting something brand new.

A Tom Tom (GPS, not the actual drum)
The William Shatner autobiography
Two pizzas from Aurelio's in Chicago (shipped to my house)
A TON of wine
A bottle of home-made amaretto
Bumping Into Geniuses by Danny Goldberg
The Essential Book Of Useless Information by Don Voorhees

Love that wooden theramin!

Yeah, it's an old recipe and my mom hasn't made it in years, but she just made a couple more batches of it. I'm psyched because I'm a sucker for that stuff-- even something simple like Di Saronno.

Speaking of useful dual gifts, my wife got a bunch of great kitchen stuff (which goes along great with the awesome knives I got her for her birthday a couple months ago) and some great cookbooks, and that's always a beautiful thing for both of us!

Man, a good kitchen knife or two makes a huge difference, no doubt.

Or seven!

Or a good set of studio doors, but that's a story for another day.

On the gear relevant (I'll keep sweater details to myself), Santa was nice. I got a Radial Re-amp and a pair of Sennheiser HD 280s. I got the Radial from my mother who found it on my Amazon list. After I opened it I said "Oh sweet!" and she asked me what it did. I said that I was sorry that no one there might understand what the purpose of the metal box was.

Luckily my girlfriend was there and she kind of got the idea. Sometimes being a dorky engineer is lonely......

It's really hard to explain what you do for a living to my aunts who are stay at home mom's.

Aunt: "How Nashville"
Me: "Great, I love it"
"What are you doing? What's your degree again?"
"Audio Engineering. I work in a recording studio, mostly bluegrass"
"Oh? What do you do there?"
"Record bands"
"Oh...(so and so) is going to be an accountant"
"That's nice"

built myself a new studio (see thread in making space...)... and got the Waves SSL 4000 plug-in set. I've had my eye on it and Waves has 35% off through the end of the month, which is the least expensive I have ever seen it. So I basically spent a sh**load of money this year. I'm trying to boost my local economy!   Ho Ho Ho!

...an end to running nutcracker, thank goodness, though there is something awesome about "mixing" an 40-some-odd-piece orchestra for a month strait...

other than that: i got some money, some of which will go into savings, some will go towards gear that is yet to be determined, most likely some sort of pre that i can use on my spdif input. pink flag by wire, and cripple crow by devendra banhart on vinyl, gift cards, homeade cookies and fudge, and i think most importantly... some time off from work to spend on reorganizing my space and finishing a whole bunch of recording projects that have been on the back burner way too long.

happy holidays everyone!
the tape is rolling, the ones and zeros are... um... ones and zeroing.
