Frank Laico

Post by johnny7 » Thu Apr 01, 2010 3:13 pm

I found a book called Studio Stories at half price books the other day. All about the old school New York recording scene - good reading. Yesterday, i was digging the section about Columbia's 30th Street and thinking about all the albums done there and the engineers who made it happen. Must've been pretty cool!

Last night, I went to an AES deal with a little presentation on the history of guitar effects pedals. We passed a mic around and introduced ourselves. I had only been half-listening when a little old man in the back said his name - Frank Laico.

Holy shit, I almost fell out of my chair.

He is in his 90's, kind as can be, and with an awesome history. What an honor to meet him!

Holy crap! That's badass!

That's a terrific book, by the way.

I was vaguely wondering about interviewing him...
