The Elephant in The Control Room
It feels to me that the rise of home recording has reached a tipping point. I'd like to invite you to read my blog post:

Anyone who makes music in 2010 and doesn't have a way to quickly and easily record demos, is a fool.
Anyone who attempts to make recordings of themselves and can't see the value in having an experienced engineer around, at least to consult with, is a fool.
Anyone who thinks that every single artist NEEDS the things that an experienced engineer brings to the table is a fool.
Any professional engineer who treats home-recordists as adversaries, is a fool.
Any artist who spends their recording budget on recording gear, simply because some professional engineer made it look easy, is a fool.
Anyone who doesn't possess a passion for sound, yet still chooses to take on self-recording, is a frustrated fool.

Just curious-- When was it that the recording industry "_wasn't corporate?_"
