One of my favorites for distorting vox was an EV 664 through my old Soundcraft 600 with the channels pre cranked....EQ and compress to taste....Never had a chance to try it with a mult set up though.
Of course I've had it in the ear before.....

try an older Mackie VLZ preamp. Blow it out to taste, add in with the vocal.

Simply my favorite vocal distortion ever. I don't own one anymore, and it seriously
pains me not to have this effect. Someday I will score one of the tiny older mixers
just for this purpose

Yeah, i've got my old RAT sitting on the console, patched into an aux on a lot of my mixes... mostly for vox... blending it in.
