quiet but peaking
quiet but peaking
im mixing a ~32 track song in Logic. i always compare the final volume of my songs to something similar in my itunes, and its pretty certain that my final mix is way too quiet. BUT its already peaking and going like +6 on the meter in Logic. any way to fix it? and how do i avoid this in the future? am i tracking "too hot"?

I agree. It's best not to worry about your final level at all during the mix stage.A.David.MacKinnon wrote:You're comparing unmastered mixes to mastered mixes. Apples and oranges.
Just make your mix sound good and let the mastering engineer worry about making it loud.
Imho it is far better to get the song mixed to your satisfaction sans overall level and leave a good amount of head room so you can then master it yourself or send it to a mastering engineer who can master the song or a group of songs for you.
