Thanks! I reckon I'll do the caps and then see how it's feeling.

The JMP mod sounds fun, but is definitely a different kind of thing because I really do like it stock, when it's working.

the problem could be anything in there or multiple things..don't make any assumptions

the vibrochamp is just about the perfect amp to learn amp tech on as it's so simple..

a better and cheaper option might be to replace multi-caps is to just replace them with multiple single caps (larger is good) and drill terminal strips into chassis..though messing around with the circuit can often lead to more noise if it's not done properly via the new wiring, etc.

in my personal experience, the speaker in stock champs is usually the weak point.

The original speaker is a tiny, tinny, piece of ****. I used a Mojotone 4 ohm Eminence, it sounds full and smooth. It's louder too.
