Euphonix-Avid just blew it

Post by vatoben » Tue Jul 05, 2011 11:07 pm

Got an email from Avid/Euphonix regarding a survey and it was openly addressed to 832 recipients, whom I can only assume are registered users. Let me be clear, when I say "openly addressed" I mean all of our email addresses are in the header. I know some of you if not all of you can understand why this is an issue.

EPIC FAIL.
I also got the post-sending disaster "recall" email.
Recall what exactly? Once that email was sent, there no "undo"...
I laughed hard at this recall email.
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

I've had this same thing happen with high-end hotels. Dum-bah.

Take consolation that it was from a known entity to known entities (who are shelling out the big bux) rather than to an unknown cross-section of humanity. Your odds aren't a helluva lot higher at getting on more spam lists than just randomly passing your email address in clear text across public networks.

And I dunno about anybody else, but my gmail is pretty good about suppressing spam and only spam.
