I agree. Neoteck EQ's are really nice, and pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. I think I am going to look into the square stuff. It sounds like what I am after.

The white stuff seems interesting too. There are a couple Locally I could pick up pretty cheap.

It seems like eq,s would one of those things that would be easy to upgrade by recapping, etc. I think I am going to maybevdo some messing around in an old rauland I found to see what happens.

Thanks again guys!

If you can do with just one channel, the Square State is killer. Still hoping for a dual channel version with HP/LP filters.

If you're reasonably handy with the soldering iron you could keep an eye out for an SSL 502 module or similar, add a power supply and a rack.. They come up quite cheaply from time to time.

i actually ended up getting a couple of the whites for 75 buck each. one is passive, one is not. the passive one is used on vocals on the way in most often.

here is a chain that has been pretty cool:

groove tubes tube condenser (the old one) -> demeter vtmp-2 -> white eq -> urei la-4.

i use the passive eq pretty sparingly, so it isn't super loss-y. and the demeter can push pretty hard, so i don't usually have to use any make up gain behind the white.

i REALLY want to try the square guy though...

The Orban 2 ch parametric is cool, and it too has bypass on each band. I with the hi/low could be a choice of peak/shelf instead of just peak.

The Square State Solid State is wonderful. I need one or two of those.
