Vortexion preamp mixer

Post by reel_to_real » Thu Feb 28, 2013 3:52 pm

Hi,

I've been using a Vortexion valve preamp mixer today. There seems to be a problem with it though. When a mic is plugged into any of the inputs there's quite a loud humming noise. Does anyone know if this is normal for an old Vortexion like this? When i pull the mic cable out most of the hum drops away, even though the mixer is still on

Cheers

Is there a mic plugged in the other side, or is it an open cable?

btw: vortexion may be the best name ever.

"But Captain, we don't have anything left to ataack them with!"

"Initialize THE VORTEXION!!!"

"No, Captain, there must be another way."

"NO!!! They must pay for their insult!!!"
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

Hi Marc, i'm not really sure what you mean. Its' a 4 into 1 mixer. There's a power cable plugged into the back of it. There's a cable coming out of the one output. Without a mic plugged into one of the four inputs there is only slight noise. When i put a mic into one of the inputs there's quite a loud hum. I've done a bit of research and found some possible causes. Vortexion is a nice name yeah :)
