Hoping somebody can help me...
The audio on my computer crashes every hour or so (loud noises, program freezes) - when recording in Cubase (pretty simple arrangements).
- PC: Win 7/64 SP1, i7-2600 @ 3.4 GHz. 16GB RAM.
Running: Cubase 6.0 (64-bit)
Interface: Echo Layla 24/96 (PCI, with latest Echo ASIO drivers).
My guess is the Echo audio drivers are not ideal in a Win 7/64 environment.
I've optimized the PC as much as I can (following most conventional steps).
Can anyone suggest a solution? I'm about ready to give up and shop for a new interface...
Thanks!

Contact Echo before ditching the unit. Maybe an older driver will be the trick.

...contacting Echo right now.
Thanks for the suggestion - I rarely think to contact companies any more. I'll let you know what happens.

Just an update to say nothing's really been resolved. Echo told me they've had a few users who've had problems using an Intel Z68 chipset - which I have (including all updates from Intel). I'm not convinced that's the problem, but I'm not a systems analyst.
I've improved the stability by enabling only 1 analog in and out, and upping my latency to 512 samples. That's not my preferred outcome, so I might end up shopping for a new interface.

did you run the pci latency tool from
www.thesycon.de?
maybe there's something running that's messing with PCI

Do you mean DPC Latency Checker? It doesn't show any major spikes during/before audio crashes.
If you know of a specific PCI tool, let me know! I don't see one.
