Tab Funkenwerk V71 vs. Universal Audio 610 for Bass
I'm between the V71 and 610 for my bass. Anyone have both and can give an accurate comparison of the tonal differences? I'm not interested in anything else really, had all the others Evil Twin, REDDI, Summit, etc. I'm interested in these 2 because they are supposed to be the warmest and are both able to overdrive (those listed above are not).

We have a V-71 and like it a lot.
It can supply a little bit of Grrrr/distortion. It's subtle.
The only negative to the V-71 is that it Does Not Like Active Pickups which is ok for me because I don't like them either.
I had to send it back a couple times when an engineer and a bassist plugged it in without knowing.

Can't say I've used either, but years ago, the Gas Cooker was where it was at for me!

i would love that unit but it's 2300 dollars and the tab is 500 used and UA is around 600-700 used. simply too expensive for me, but i would love to try one at some point. i've heard it's great at tube overdrive since it has 3 valves.Recording Engineer wrote:Can't say I've used either, but years ago, the Gas Cooker was where it was at for me!
