Got a Studer 269 mixer with one channel giving me trouble and would greatly appreciate any assistance.
So, I plug a mic in and nothing. However, there's a fair amount of noise and the channel strip itself is quite microphonic. If I take a pencil and tap the components, it seems to ring most strongly through the transformer. The EQ section still works (can hear it effecting the hiss) and there is no difference if I disconnect the mic cable. No visible bad connections or caps.
Should I try to track down a replacement transformer? Could this be the result of a bad tantalum cap in there? I see that those little calibration trim pots tend to go bad... Again, I would love to hear any ideas!
