tech for tascam and fostex machines
a friend of mine needs to get a couple machines serviced and I'm out of the loop these days

you could try denis at 238pro.com he fixes tascam cassette decks, not sure if he can do reel to reel.

You mention Tascam and Fostex, but not whether they are cassette-based or reel-to-reel machines. I work on cassette 4-track/8-track machines and can possibly make recommendations for open reel devices. these are open reel
tascam 38 "the hubs don't line up - the brakes doesnt work when you hit stop and maybe a few other things"
fostex 1/2"-16 "logic chip? wont play FF or RW"

May’s Landing is a bit of a hike from NYC but I can vouch for Russ at NJ Factory Service. He did an awesome (plus fast and pretty affordable) job servicing my 388 and gave me a ton of good advice on rehabbing my back up 424. He’s been working on Tascam decks for 30 years and knows his shit. Good dude, great tech.
