Looking for Groove Tubes PS2A Power Supply

Post by Sean Sullivan » Wed Dec 22, 2021 4:16 pm

Long shot, but I just bought a pair of Groove Tubes MD3A microphones and one of the leads off the power supply transformer is broken and not repairable. I have a message into the manufacture but the odds of them having an identical one seems low since it's 25 years old at this point.

By chance does anyone have a spare power supply they'd be willing to sell?

if it's just the power transformer, that doesn't sound impossible to find a replacement (if you know what the step-down voltage is), otherwise, maybe Hamptone could build you one? https://www.hamptone.com/products/tmps

So the PSM power supply outputs 120V and 12V to the mic--I assume the PS2A does the same, but I'm not certain. If so, finding a transformer that gives you the appropriate voltages shouldn't be that difficult.

Since you have everything else, and a working PSU, someone should be able to reverse engineer and build you a new one. I live in a college town. I'd contact the electrical engineering department. A Prof, or maybe even a student could build one as a class project.
