Latest gear you've acquired.....
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Two Musicians Gear orchestral music stands, because two was US$10 more than one.
I plan to use 'em as tables, for my Refaces, and/or my recorder.
(Also, I wanted to be top o' the page again. )

Pigtronix mini-Disnortion - surprisingly flexible and totally dirty, lotta fun.
Jammed this weekend, gave the guitarist a board to use:
Timmy-Disnortion-Soul Driver-Nano Bass Muff-EPH3 (Dean semi-hollow, Electar)
3+ hours, he never touched the delay.

Agreed that the video is super annoying. Apologies to all! It was the first video that popped up with a demonstration.kslight wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 6:00 pmI’m definitely not into this video but already looking around to see where I have space to put one of these.A.David.MacKinnon wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 4:45 pmOne of these crazy things.

Got this RCA 77 D from Reverb. We have a great DX at Cowboy Technical but I wanted one for home.
The seller JDMSales on Reverb was a drag. Came with a frayed cable and an antiquated Cannon connector (neither in the description) but I'm still mighty glad I got it. This particular mic had been upgraded to DX spec in the 60's. I sent it to Clarence Kane at ENAK in Jersey and he put a new cable on and re-ribboned the mic. It really sounds great.

Built a DIYRE Colour Palette w/ TM79, Colouruptor and LTL Super Filter colour cards. Stoked to give it a spin.
Also a Radial SGI, which I hope to christ actually helps because I am sick of relying on Izotop Rx to rid my mixes of buzzing amp bullshit.

I've thought about the SGI for the same reason. I love recording the 5150 I have access to, but it's a fucking noisy amp. I think I could use a visit to the doctor as well. I've got a couple of 60' speaker cables to get cabs out in the garage and the head in the "control room" (my living room). This would be great for getting some distance from raging combo amps.Recycled_Brains wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 10:43 amBuilt a DIYRE Colour Palette w/ TM79, Colouruptor and LTL Super Filter colour cards. Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
I'll be testing it out along with your Copper a week from tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted. The spot I am using as my home base for the foreseeable future doesn't have wall panels to use as through ports for any sort of cabling, so I'm always using stupidly long instrument cable runs to get to the booth where we put the amps and it's without fail, noisy as fuck. I know that the shit we record, it's like impossible to get rid of it completely, but if this thing makes even a 50% difference, I'll be pumped. I'm optimistic because it has an isolation xfmr in one of the boxes and I've had good luck with an ABY that I own that has the same feature.trodden wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 10:54 amI've thought about the SGI for the same reason. Ibanez AW7 - I've wanted one for years but somehow waited until now.
Nice but subtle on bass, it's great on guitar, and lots of useful options including distortion.

Wow ..looks awesome. Imo, no mic anywhere can quite get to what a good 77DX can do.roscoenyc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:40 am

Soyuz Bomblet.
Might be a game changer on guitar cabs. Just finished 3 days of heinously loud Matamps and Orange OR120's annihilating it and the tracks sound real fuckin' good. First time I didn't feel the need to use a 2-mic setup in a while. The clarity and detail under that kind of stress kinda floored me. Tried it on vocals, got beat out by my Lawson but it showed promise. Top end is nice and dark and not stupid. The Lawson had just a touch more reach that picked up more of the low-level nuance in the vocal.
