Mic stands in 2022?

Thanks and yeah; that was my thinking. I probably spent $10 on the pair of weights through a Craigslist post. It’s been years, but I recall they were silly-cheap.

I've also got some good shorties - the little Tamas are good, but hard to press into medium-range duty - they can't reach over the top of a rack tom, for instance. I've got a couple of cast-base ones for floor duty, also.

I was really asking for recommendations of normal tripod + boom stands. It looks like the Tama MS205 is still competitive, as the equivalent K&M, Gator and DR Pros and all right around the same price. Might as well stick with the ones I know.

I finally threw out or gave away all of the shit mic stands in 2013 and just spent the money on K&M's and a couple shorty TAMAs, which are fucking GREAT. I really wish I had some of the TAMAs in a medium format for the reasons The Scum mentioned. Plus, them being silver, when I bring them to another studio (yeah, I even bring extra stands, because you never fucking know) or to a remote recording, it's even easier to tell them apart besides my name on each stand.

Like what Alex does, the weight idea is super useful. I've got some single weight and some double weight stands for the heavier mics.
