if you ever run across one, I always thought the Fostex 3070 was a pretty fun little unit too. It's a VCA compressor and noise gate that used to go for dirt cheap (I think I paid $50 or something). And it's stereo/2-channel. I used to use one on kick/snare sometimes. it can smack pretty good in a lo-fi kinda way.

This is the info I love and miss. Thanks!

Hey...

Voice of TOMB past here.

Remember the Alesis Modfx Smashup? Heck, you might even have one knocking around somewheres...

Those last two modes on the bottom?

From memory, those will occasionally toss you a rope when you are painted into that "WWTBD?..." corner.
I'll second that and add the Alesis Micro Limiter to the list. It's almost a stomp box but is often awesome.
I would often run that on the drum bus and a second Kick-Snare bus through a Sta-Level.

It sounds like the 501s are doing it. I did a TON of records with a smashed RNC drum parallel (the key here is don't use really nice mode).

I'm pretty much only using an analog bus comp these days, even using plugins for drum parallel... I'm so ashamed

BTW, Pete and I were talking about you and your bitchin' skills just two days ago, on Wednesday when he was over doing some tracking. In case you felt some ear burn.
