My ears seem same as ever ..I detect yucky high-end on modern stuff, would be nicer to not hear it actually.

I believe it's from driving with the window down for soooo many years.
That thought has occurred to me.

+100

i see the audiologist every 2 years, hearing is my life, my passion, and my part time job, i don't mess around when it comes to my ears. i also use in ear monitors for live gigs that are noisy, i use ear plugs for noisy gigs/rehearsals. i don't tolerate amp cranked smash and bash dumb fuck musicians, if you can't control your dynamics, you ain't good enough to play with me homey, end of story. the bands i'm playing with now are all cats who can play at a reasonable volume so we don't need ear plugs/IEM.
Dang mark, save some salt for supper bruh :P

Most surprising thing about hearing aids is now when walking down the street, it sounds like I'm driving in a convertible at 60MPH windwise.
Stills beats not being able to understand even the quietest human speech.
It's not like I like to hear the humans speak. So over it.
Singing is a different story

So I had a medical issue a few years ago that ravaged my right ear; good amount of loss between 2-4kh and some raging tinnitus. Yay me!

I’ve learned to work with it and my brain has done a really good job compensating, but I’m super interested in feedback from anyone with hearing aids. I have avoided trying one since it would be only one ear and I don’t want to relearn my hearing a third time. But eventually I’ll probably end up trying some.

I have a muso-producer buddy with bilaterals - his mixes are fine.

Isn't it Brian Wilson who mixes with just one functioning ear?
