While the aesthetics remind me some of G&K or a Z amp, it's likely local, mebbe.

But mang, them guys is good - starting about 27:00 they blowed me away.

Altho' everything kinda reminds me of "Paint It Black" - what is my own failing.

I think right below the red light on the top left is the brand name, but it never seems to be close and in focus enough to read.
I know what you mean about Paint it Black... I listen to TONS of Indian music and don't get those associations with it, but I guess because this is an electric instrument that sounds very much like electric guitar, I hear parts that remind me of rock. Not so much Paint it Black for me, but I hear parts that remind me of the beginning of the End (Doors) and the intro section to Baba O'Riley (the Who).

That's a cool lead instrument that he is essentially playing by picking (1 of 2?) strings and pushing buttons.

I mean, it's almost like he's typing - which is how I kinda feel on koto.

Except you just know he's got that set up and tweaked for the spring action ...

Guy is apparently not recorded - I was looking for a CD.

The rhythm instrument has a odd sound, almost percussion when he's featured.

did you notice that the amp is powered by a 12v battery? follow that twisted pair wire back behind them...

but that also indicates to me that it is likely a solid-state amp (would likely need an inverter to get AC voltages to run tubes)

Yeah, I noticed the car battery. I'd imagine the amp is pretty similar to a Pignose, but with its own mojo. And it definitely has mojo! Very tubey sound, regardless of the actual circuit. The Japanese Taishōgotos are pretty affordable but don't have as many keys as the Indian bulbul tarangs, like what he's playing.

It's so tempting to get one now but I have too many instruments already and not enough $. The tone is so great through that little amp and I'd guess the amp is pretty cheap, so I'm hoping finding that would ease the desire to get the instrument!

I got it at a flea market for $20 from a guy who had no idea what it was.
Maybe I could sell it and use the dough for the Japanese model which looks to be a significant step up.

Just took my old bulbul tarang off the shelf and blew the dust off the case...
it actually has more range than I remembered... one note shy of two octaves. And it does have working sharps/flats; I was misremembering, thinking it only had working white keys. So that should scratch the instrument itch for now.

It has ten strings, tuned in unison. The keys press levers that stop the strings, similar to how a clavichord works. You can even use it like a clavichord, and press the keys to get sound, without strumming. But no polyphony.

I'll have to make a pickup for it... it's not so useful acoustically, #1 being very quiet, and #2 the opposite side of the string is almost as loud as the side you pluck. This is cool for experimental, weird sounds but not so great for normal playing. So I guess I'll make two pickups, with separate outputs, for each end of the strings.

So do we know about that amp? It runs off what looks like 12 volts, so not tubes. Probably not a lot of wattage either. Perforated speaker grille. Now that's something you could reproduce and see if it does anything on an amp you already own.

Kind of looks like the actual speaker is smaller and off center, like on the lower left?

There's an SM57 pointed it, so that's how you can estimate dimensions of the cabinet.

The playing is also great, but it doesn't have the killer tone Noor Baksh's has... sounds more straight acoustic, though it looks like there's a cord coming out going somewhere.

It has a pick-up, also, so I'm gonna hafta 'speriment with amps.

Does it hafta be 12v.-powered, or can I start with a Marshall?
