Latest gear you've acquired.....
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
And... I'm finally caught up.
My new acquisitions over the past two years includes a dual channel phantom power supply unit, an active D.I. and a Behringer ultrapatch pro. Oh, and lots and lots of cables.
Cant remember if I'd bought my rack last time I posted here.

A set of DiMarzio Dark Matter pickups, for my Ibanez JEM JRL.
The original pickups are quite bright. Too bright. Because the guitar is bright to begin with.

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Finally was able to find one of these in stock.
Expensive little box, but hella cool.
I'm trying to get more broadcast TV audio work and these are useful when troubleshooting 6 mics on a soccer field.

Good money in TV audio, though the schedule is a bit irregular.trodden wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 4:07 pmFinally was able to find one of these in stock.

BTW, those little Q Boxen make a lovely distorted squealing if you crank it up with the mic switched on... and even more fun when you switch over to the oscillator and back.

Yeah, it's been difficult to get scheduled since crewing and crewing list is a real seniority thing. I'm currently working three jobs besides free lance audio stuff and it's killing me, so hoping I can at least get to two-three events/games a month and not have to be stocking shelves from 10pm-6am three nights a week on top of my "day job" (office work) and my KEXP part-time audio work, which varies each month as well. Finally hope to have enough debt paid off that I can finally finish studio build number 5 and then start having a decent flow of recording work from the local community once again.Scodiddly wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 5:35 pmGood money in TV audio, though the schedule is a bit irregular.trodden wrote: ↑Thu Jun 29, 2023 4:07 pmFinally was able to find one of these in stock.

If you can find the time, understanding wireless mic/IFB coordination is a really handy skill set to have. Shure's "Wireless Workbench" software is a free download and a no-kidding pro solution.

I got a Mapex Solidus snare drum, which is an 11-ply maple 7x14. It showed up on Chris Garges birthday, so that was cool. It sounds good and I think it will be a nice addition to my collection. It's my second Mapex snare. Their drums are really well built and sound and look good too. Plus they are pretty damn affordable.

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just scored another RE15 as well as an RE10 for $200 a piece. Much more than the $40 I paid for my first RE15 but I'm still happy. My favorite mics.

My Empirical Labs EL9 MIke-E just arrived too! I have the UAD Distressor but can't wait to try some re-amping on this one (as well as some tracking). now I also need to exercise some self-control again... (and stop buying)
Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
I use one of those SE Reflexion Filter things with mics at home. It helps me get a 'close' sound.
It mounts to the mic stand and has its own place to mount a mic. It sounds very good but it's a total pain to adjust
from Vocal height to Acoustic Guitar height (those are the 2 things I use mics for at home)
This Triad-Orbit rig is kind of over the top but it worked out really well for me. The basic part of the stand is in 3 segments
so I have the SE thing mounted to the middle segment and I can easily adjust it's height from there. I'm using the SE mic mount for my pop filter
and I have the mics coming down the Triad-Orbit from above. Triad-Orbit stuff is super stable. Very heavy. No counter weights needed. Much
more useful than my old rig and less cluttered also.

A Way Huge Atreides Weirding Module, and aBoss SY-1 Synth pedal.
Excited about how these will mangle sounds.
