altec m11 'coke bottle' mic from '48. great sounding mic. to round out an 'old' signal chain, can run the m11 into a collins preamp from the 50's into a collins limiter from the 50's into an ampex 354 1/4" machine from the 50's, which adds up to 10 tubes and 8 transformers in one swoop.

The oldest piece of gear I have is my brain.

Other than that it would be my guitars.
1964 Mustang
1975 Mustang
1977 Ibanez Artist

and a few effect pedals from the late 70's, MXR phase 90, a Ross compressor, and a cry baby wah pedal, all bought around 1978 or 1979.

1971 A. Dotras Cordoba Classical guitar
1972 Aria Classical guitar

Man, these Classical guitars sound awesome, I just wish they still had the strings from the 70's. When I first found them, they sounded super dark and mysterious, and the strings were actually darker in color.

1970s Casiotone 701 Keyboard

This thing is the shit. 8 note polyphony, faux wood paneling, great organ sound, 2 forms of vibrato.

Oldest gear is probably an old Shure 51S mic, though I pretty much never use it.

Oldest piece of gear in regular use would be the 1969 P-bass, which I got used in high school. Back in 1982 a '69 was used. You had to have 1966 or older to be vintage.

oldest piece of gear i have in regular use would be my jh buckbee banjo, made in the late 1800's.

oldest studio gear might be a pair of rft pm750 mics, a couple of auditronic channels, and a couple of neve 33421 channels that i think are all late '70s and early '80s.

i have a fair amount of early '80s synths and drum machines.

so, only my banjo is interestingly old.

I was recently reunited with my Slingerland Radio King bass drum, which probably dates to the 1940's. I WISH... I WISH.... I WISH I had the snare that went with it.

Everything else I own is a trail of nuts, bolts, solder, tubes, frets, and wood from the early 1970's on.

Shure rackmount turntable preamp 60s (?)
Silverface Vibro Champ 70s
ESQ-1 keyboard, 1986
Ibanez rackmount digital delays 80s

...and the second guitar I ever bought, a Yamaha SA-15 which dates from the late 60's and I've owned and loved since I rescued it from a jewelry pawnshop in 1988.

A Maccaferri plastic guitar, from approximately 1953:

http://www.vintageguitar.com/brands/details.asp?ID=59

It's been sitting in storage since 1992; since we put it in storage the tailpiece broke such that it now hangs slack from the strings. I will do some kind of mend and get it back into service one of these days.

My sister has a violin which was made in 1780-something. 1781 I think.
