Acetone works well. In a pinch, you can use nail-polish remover (which is basically the same thing).

Lacquer thinner is great at removing stains/ink/paint off metal. Quite noxious, though. Best to use gloves and a mask or even better a respirator. I'd be surprised if lacquer thinner wouldn't cut it, but a solvent more potent than that would be MEK. Now that stuff is NASTY!
