I'm afraid that this is quite serious. FWIW, they do market it to folks buying their $7000 passive attenuator, so I guess it's just a drop in the bucket for those types. I can ALMOST imagine someone with a money-is-no-object attitude spending that kind of money on piece of engineering like the Silver Rock attenuator they sell, as the thing is at least a pretty insanely intricate hand crafted mechanism - if you look at the pictures. There's some similar stuff like that in the pro audio world too. A $485 dollar volume knob though...that's pushing the envelope.Ryan Silva wrote:This is just nuts, I have never heard of anything like this. I've gone through my audiophile phases in the past, and have dabbled in a couple of things so I can cut some slack on certain items, but this is pretty laughable to say the least.
I noticed my titled link didn't work, but you should be able to cut and paste the following addres if you want to read their description for some good comedic entertainment. I noticed they don't sell it anymore (guess the 'demand' didn't quite meet expectations ) but the Wayback Machine pulled up a link.

and realized it's his home theatre....totally decadent in a sick fashion.
I read the guy's interview/write up on the system and he does seem passionate in an oddly sincere fashion and almost kind of down to earth...well, as down to earth as you can be surrounded by $6million dollars of audio gear anyway
I would enjoy watching a film at his house I must say.
