it all depends on how comfortable you are with your computer.

I honestly hate anti virus software, I feel like it uses so much of your CPU and that more people that have the software actually get viruses. I have been recording since 2003 and the first computer virus I have ever gotten was a couple weeks ago just because I was trying to get a windows XP disc ISO (I have a legit serial number, just needed the disc) off of bit torrent and I got a virus. so I had to format. I finally got a copy of a real xp disc from a friend so now I am running Vista and XP on dual partitions. I wanted a dual boot because I can optimize XP better with ProTools than Vista.

So I have my XP partiton setup with the internet disabled, but I can enable it if I need to download specific software or updates. And my vista partition is set up for normal internet stuff and call of duty 4 when I want to kill some people in the virtual world.
