So what's the best mic to use for (pick a generic sound source)?

The best mic to use for recording me at band practice is a Shure Spher-o-dyne. It fits the ancient PA, and I own one.

Best mic for the female VO I recorded last night: AKG 414 CLII

Best mic for the male VO I recorded this morning: Neumann U87

In both cases, because it was the one on the stand at the time. If it was the wrong choice I'd have changed it.

I'm glad you chose my liittle corner of the TOMB to post the first topic, but it don't belong here. Joel'sjoint is for gear.

On this forum the question would be "where do I put the best mic for _______?"
