A near-mint '58 Duo-Sonic had bids approaching $2K this weekend on ebay but its reserve price was not met. Go figure. I bought my first Duo-Sonic in '83 for $150.thieves wrote:i've been on the hunt for a vintage fender shortscale in this price range for about a decade and still no luck.Cojonesonasteek wrote:
I did more recently find a '58 Duo-Sonic in a pawn shop for $300 and sold it for a grand.

Takamine guitar, with case, found put out with trash on street. In great shape, except the bridge had pulled off the body. It was an easy repair. It sounds great, and totally different from my other acoustic (Alvarez Regent). Also found a Hondo strat with broken neck-- the body is fine though, and all the electronics work. Should be useful for something.

most extreme craigslist deals from the past couple years or so:
81 Mesa Boogie Mark IIb - $250
82 USA P-Bass with hardshell case - $200
67 Silvertone H78, mint condition - $75
84 MIJ strat - $80
and then the most retarded deal of all:
a package deal that included 2 lefthanded guitars (mint USA strat and nice Carvin acoustic tele, both with cases), POD XT, Boss tuner, and distortion pedal. All for $500. I kept the POD and the tuner, and made a profit of over $1000 after selling the guitars.

damn. i need to come live where you live. my local craigslist is chock full of half broken no-name guitars "going" for 2-3 times their retail value and "PROFESSIONAL STUDIO mics."kingnimrod wrote:most extreme craigslist deals from the past couple years or so:

UPDATE: Just a couple of nights ago, I bought five dynamics- one Shure SM53, one EV RE50, one EV RE11 and two EV 635As. Well, technically not two 635As, but one SRO-635A, and one with no label that looks identical, so it's prolly a 635A. All five work, though they're pretty grungy and the RE50's capsule is rattling inside the case- I'd guess the foam has rotted. The best part? They were only five dollars each.
