the AKM AK5394 converter

Post by operator_tape » Sun Nov 20, 2005 6:04 pm

I read a bunch of reviews about these converters that ar in the Lynx audio interfaces and the emu 1820m and 1212m. I wonder if anyone has any of these interfaces and are using them to track musicians. Do they sound good and is it worth getting something like that and saving money with the emu-1820m and then buying some better quality pre-amps. I have a vintech 73i and the focusrite voicemaster as my main pre-amps. Will I do my recordings justice by getting the 1820m dock as my main A/D? I already have the pci card that comes with it. (friend gave it to me, but without the dock because someone stole it from him, go figure) Any suggestions would be helpful. The main reason for this post is that I am wondering whether saving money in this area is worth it or should I go for a RME FIREFACE 800 which was my original plan but since I have the pci card that goes with the 1820m it would be wiser to just get the dock.

Thanks for any help.
