looking for some monitor recommendations....

Post by Recycled_Brains » Wed Nov 23, 2005 6:08 pm

i'm currently in the market for a pair of active monitors from my home set-up. so far i've been looking at these:

http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=29
http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=27

and some KRK V series-2 models as well. i've assisted on a couple of mixing projects with KRK V6's in the past and liked the way they sounded.

basically i'm looking for a pair of actives for around $500.00 or less.

any info., insite or advice would be greatly appreciated....

I've also been looking at monitors in that range and have been looking mostly at:

Event TR8-N

Alesis m1 active 620

M-Audio BX8A

any thoughts?

i was just checking out the TR 8-N's. i'm curious as to whether or not having a 6" as opposed to an 8" woofer would make enough difference to justify the extra expense.

The cheapo Tapcos are great. I have the smaller ones, and there is WAY more bass than I had any right to expect. Granted, I had previously been mixing through Minimus 7's, but for quiet-ish project studio monitoring, I'd be hard pressed to think of a reason why I would need anything better.
