Les paul firebrand,sg-z..PICKUPS

Post by doozerface » Thu Dec 15, 2005 8:50 am

So I need some suggestions on pickups....

I play a gibson sg-z(bridge pickup 500T) through a single channel 50watt marshall jcm 800 head into a marshall 4x12. I just bought a 1980 lespaul firebrand on ebay. The pickup in the bridgle of the paul(t-top(I think)) sounds really really noisy and abrasive, I think i need to replace it.

I thinking of these pickups for the les paul, any opinions/suggestions/recomendations?

gibson 500t..People say they sound shitty in lespauls but i like it in my sg...
gibson 57classic
Seymour Duncan JB

thanks

I like the alnico magnet sound of the 57's better than ceramic magnet pickups.
I know enough to know that I don't know what I am doing.

Bill Lawrence L-500's

and/or Duncan's SH-1 '59

Both are amazing pickups.

My old guitar tech, who's pretty well-known in the Bay area, recommended the Billy Gibbon's Pearly Gates (I think, with seymour duncans). I had them on a les paul copy which I sold-- they sounded okay (the guy I sold the guitar to liked them). I had the 57 classics, which were okay as well, but I think I'd be satisfied with the Pearly Gates.
