EH Black Finger for Bass (or guitar)..

Post by MikeCzech » Mon Feb 06, 2006 6:47 pm

Anyone ever use one for bass?

I know it's not balanced so I'd run it before a DI. How does it compare to a DBX160? I love what my 160's do on bass, but I'm really looking for something to work a little magic on the attack. My 1176's are good for the attack, but I don't like what they do to the bottom end.

Can anyone give me some comparisons or samples?

My main concern is bass, but I'm curious about guitar too..

Black Finger... Soul Power

I just recently quit a rock/prog rock band in which I was using a very throaty Warwick bass through an older model SWR 400 hybrid amp out of an Ampeg SVT 8x10. The guy who was recording us (for about a year) had an ElectroHarmonix Black Finger he said just drove his Ampeg SVT2 like Dale Earndhart in a late nineties Nascar prelim.

This thing has BAALLLLS. I actually just ran completely through the input stage on my SWR, so that I would caution about, but up until that moment, the sound was ungodly.

I'll see if I can make an mp3 out of the sample that I recorded it with.
