electrolytic leakage

what do yall consider acceptable leakage? Id rather not recap something if I dont need to. Even new electros show leakage at the 20M setting. . .

really? Usually if there is any leakage it means the cap is not good.

do you have an ESR meter? Sometimes that and a regular meter are a good guess.

however, under load they do different things... thats the real way to test them. Plow like 600V into the thing, strap an amp meter onto it and see if there is any current draw at all - if there is, then its time for the cap to go. This is a dangerous method - but its pretty failsafe - just remember to discharge the caps before you put them back!
