monitors!

help!
i have a pair m-audio studio pro 4 monitors..
recently, i have found that when i turn the volume ALL the way down, sound still plays pretty loudly out of the right speaker....when i turn the volume up, it increases the volume of the left speaker...has anyone encountered this?
its pretty frustrating. thanks
i'm sitting here in a moustache cause it needs to recharge
