yeah, that's a good deal. we're gonna shut up about 635s now, okay? I'm just afraid of the Tapeop Cred Effect.

TCE:
e = 2p(t)

where
"e" = the price of a product on ebay
"p" = the amount it is actually worth
"t" = the number of times the product has been mentioned on the tapeop forums

Don't worry, we can just talk about them on Creot for a few days and bring the price back down.

What's up with those Shure mixers? I have one sitting in a corner of my basement that was brought over by a friend years ago. Never actually used the thing, though I've picked it up and looked at with curiosity a couple times.

Any good uses for it?

Well I hope this dont make the EBay price go up, but here goes.

I watch for clunkers, that is how I ran on to this auction. I like the input trannys on the M67s. The ones in the M68 are pretty good as well, but a bit smaller. They are Mu Metal shielded and you can pickup these things for about $20. (Where else can you by 4 or 5 trannys for $20) The M67 will have 4 Mic trannys and the M68 has 5 (The output is the same just wired in reverse)

I like to find them in near worthless state so I dont feel bad tearing them up for parts. If I get a Mint one I'll keep it to mod for pres.

The M67 was used to record Woodstock. The build is a bit better than the M68.

I like to mod the M67 for direct outs, so you have 4 preamps. The 677 is just like the M67 but it is an extender, making it even nicer for direct out mods. (No extra master knob/circuit to junk it up if you only want pres)

How could that be? Often times, there were more then 4 vocalists... let alone all the instruments to mike. The drum set? Things were progressed along far enough back then that they were micing amy parts of the set (though that doesn't mean that all of those mics seen on the drums were for tape... maybe just PA). Wow.

There is an external jack to link the mix busses, you can hook several of them together.

I never really looked at what they were used for at woodstock but here is what a quick google turned up:

http://www.prosoundweb.com/install/comm ... tory.shtml

Eddie Kramer, famed producer and engineer for such artists as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Santana, and David Bowie, proved that the M67 could be applied in live music when he used three of them to record all of the live performances at the Woodstock music festival in 1969.

Hi all. Rod C, you seem to be the guy in the know regarding these Shure mixers - I presume they only run on 110v mains? I'm in the UK, tempted buy one or two just for grins, but obviously won't if they won't run on 240V mains from stock or can't be easily modded. Any thoughts? These things look like lotsa fun for cheap money, even with international shipping etc.
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
Paul Fury

Did you see my mods in the DIY section?

They come in a 240V version, but im sure it would be cheeper to get a 120 and change the tranny.

Look for a M67-2E the only difference is the transformer.
