M-Audio Microtrack

Post by tilputt » Sun Mar 12, 2006 8:27 am

Hey, yesterday I was checking out the M-Audio Microtrack. Unfortunately this included unwittingly plugging my Beyer M160 in with the phantom power engaged.

I was over by the mic when it was plugged in and now I am wondering if I heard something like a little ribbon freaking out. The mic seems to sound the same at this point and I read that the Microtrack doesn't really push much phantom power.

Can someone with experience offer advice and speculate with me?

The Microtrack supplies 30V of Phantom Power max, I believe.

If you use a properly wired cable, the M160, like most modern ribbon mics, will not be damaged by phantom power.
