Suggestions for an 17" or 19" LCD monitor?
I've switched over to a G4 12" Powerbook and need to get an external LCD monitor.....looking at Macmall for either a 17 or 19" ......suggestions much appreciated....for example dont really need one that has external speakers on the sides, not doing graphics so the refresh rates in not a biggie....just using for a DAW...

The Dell 1905FP LCDs look great and are really affordable. I bought 40 of them last year for work and a ton more for broadcast clients...

I just got a new one of those at work and they are excellent. I used to be a snob when it came to LCD monitors, but this is the first LCD I've used that really has a sharp image which rivals a CRT.scott anthony wrote:The Dell 1905FP LCDs look great and are really affordable. I own the Dell as well. It is excellent. Check www.gotapex.com for Dell deals

I just got one of these widescreen DELL UltraSharp 2005FPW monitors & it's great -- the same screen as the Apple 20" Cinema display for about $425 shipped. On the high side of $$$, maybe, but the high resolution & wide screen mean you can see a lot of what's going on, and the brightness makes the Logic interface feel less like a dungeon. Plus you can use monitor spanning so you can have even more windows open. Sorry to sound so much like a salesman -- I actually have no very warm feelings for Dell -- but I love this thing.

I've got a couple "Sceptre" 19" monitors (chosen for price point, pleasantly surprised with quality.)
Not so into them for graphic design purposes, but for audio work... just fine.
Check TigerDirect or GlobalComputer. Don't forget to check for rebates, too...

My suggestion? www.newegg.com and get whatever is cheapest. If the color is less than 100% accurate who cares. That's what I did and I got some Rosewill's and they have been just fine. I'd rather spend my money on other things.
I've used many LCD's at work, and settled on the Dell 1905FP and 1704FP, which I also use at home.scott anthony wrote:The Dell 1905FP LCDs look great and are really affordable. I bought 40 of them last year for work and a ton more for broadcast clients...
