Replacement speaker for old Ampeg Bass Amp (B100)

Post by Echos Myron » Sun Mar 26, 2006 6:02 am

I have a 70's Ampeg B100 amp that needs a new speaker. The current one looks like cardboard and begins to fail at moderate volumes. I'm guessing (by the name) that the amp is 100 watts -- it has a single 10" speaker, and is solid state.

What should I look for in a replacement speaker? There's not much information on the amp itself... Would any 10", 100 watt, 8ohm, bass speaker work?? Is there a specific wattage I should buy? What brands are worthwhile?

Thanks!
