So, Everybody's X, are you insinuating that my stuff isn't BAD enough? I'll have to update my site at myspace. Anyway, thanks for categorizing me as a mere 'delusional adult'. I am trying (and I am not being facetious here) to achieve a state of total earnestness in my music.

Fake band? Bad songs? Oh yeah, I've got one of those. And of course we only have one song. Of course.

Tatertot, if it helps I basked in the amazing badness of your "bands" tunes, enjoyable like a b horror movie

my band is fake as in it doesnt exist, I write songs I record them I enlist musicians to record and play out with me, I (we?)actually draw pretty well in KC and other than the occasional confused bar patron ("wasn't your guitarist bald last month?") it works out pretty well for me, of course by this reasoning, nine inch nails is a fake band too.

maybe we should focus on the delusional part of the equation.. there are tons of guys out there who record their stuff by themselves and I didn't mean them or at least ALL of them... I play almost everything on my band's records except bass and some guitar parts but we are a band and play shows and have a website and all that band stuff... What i had in mind was exactly what that monstersofmyspace site was highlighting... that kind of bad but think I'm great delusion... I just figured if we found more that weren't on that site we could post them and a have a good laugh... its like that post from that guy who was looking for a guitarist on craigslist - he had a two page ad about how great he and his band were and how they needed Jimmy Page on crack and how they had a tour setup in Europe and the link to their tunes were these vocal/bass demos recorded on a boombox and he was the most horrific "singer" I'd ever heard... NOW THAT'S DELUSION...

Right, delusion. Part of what is so appealing about delusion is the innocence of it. I envy those with true delusions of future grandeur because of their innocence, anway, even if the envy is mixed with pity. I am not anywhere near Boston, but when I used to get into Cambridge during the summer months several years ago I absolutely LOVED strolling around Harvard Square listening to those who hoped to follow in Tracy Chapman's footsteps. There were little moments of genius, many unintentional, buried in the music of many of the performers.

It should follow that myspace and similar sites would fan the flames and bring out many more freaks like there are in Harvard Square, but people seem to be much more savvy now than they were ten years ago.

The Shaggs may be the ultimate example of delusion, although their music is so perfectly executed according to their bizarre made-up rules that it's perfectly bitchen.

Anyway, it's time for me to start navigating deeper off into the uncharted parts of myspace. It's easy to follow the network away from TOMB regulars' sites but it mostly just leads to more and more indie bands and quasi-goth women with bobbed dark brown hair and hipster plastic eyeglasses. Perhaps some new search terms such as "jackson guitar" or "influenced by creed" will lead me to the mother lode.

Oh - I just remembered this beauty, speaking of Creed:

That's a pretty scary website. They're probably on myspace too. A Creed cover band! Wow.

Some recent finds:

http://www.myspace.com/hotlicks

they say they're "bringing back the good stuff"; they seem like pretty nice guys but I think they also qualify for inclusion in this thread...

http://www.myspace.com/jacksonandy

"walk together rock together"

and his companion band site:

http://www.myspace.com/nogodinnocent

Unfortunately the music kind of rocks, and he's German which gives him WAY more cred than I'll ever have. I like the double kick drum. Sport drumming. Anyway, the website is pretty ballistic.

EDIT: None of these meet your criteria because these are actual bands that play gigs and have mailing lists and such. I'm still searching for something better (worse) out there.

i've actually heard nothing but good things about AIDS Wolf. never heard 'em though. i think they run Seripop, which does artwork for some pretty decent bands.. they did some screenprinted posters for us that were pretty cool i guess..

I recommend that you visit

http://voncello.com/

In a way I respect this guy for doing his own thing within the greater context of 21st century American eclecticism, although I'm not sure about the success of his concepts. Anyway, he's apparently gig-free (none listed) and he has a very high hype-to-content ratio at his site which trips my triggers. Enjoy.

That guy is in league with Mixerman.

A couple gems:

Lux -- "Any one of them makes Glen Danzig look like Michael Stipe?s gayer, thinner cousin. "

Atomic Blond -- "And by 'rock,' I mean 'amplify their queefs with loud guitars and drums that are free of any discernable, interesting dynamic.'...

If it were a bunch of dudes playing these same songs in the same manner, I?d still think it would sound like vaginal whistling."

Should I imagine, or go there?

Like the kind that's just a kid and his keyboard or even a real band that's just mindblowingly horrible yet seem to be totally serious... That's what I meant when I said "myspace bands" originally... "bands" made up of two kids in high school or whatever... also I think somebody seemed to think that I meant only or mostly kids but lord knows there are alot of self-delusional adults out there...

Mike
isnt that what I did?
See, the IDEAL one is 2 guys/girls with all of their photos done in paintbrush (kind of like Hott Stuntaz?), and such... Im not bashing anyones credibility on music - everyones got their own tastes. But bring on the secrets myspace is hiding for us.

I recorded some stuff really horribly, its actually 2 years old now but thats how long the current record has been in production for - recorded the vox with a 57 and the exciter is WAY too crisp on the vocals. Really thin sounding (disclaimer?). Home studios are HORRIBLE for time delay in projects - to me anyways. Its always there so you have the ability to keep fixing and fixing and fixing - which in all honesty, totally destroys the music I guess. Rambled off topic a bit there.

Well, this ought to weird everybody out:

http://mydeathspace.com/

It seems to be an actual product of myspace, rather than an unrelated spinoff.
