"We call these Myspace bands"

Post by waxboy » Sun Apr 02, 2006 3:15 pm

I just read the thread on home recordings no longer being "bad". Deffinately one of the most interesting threads I've read in a while. The most recent post is about "Myspace bands".

We all love to hate these "groups", but some are much worse than others (well, everyone has theyre own opinions right?).

I dwelve into the world of Myspace with hunched shoulders and a bowed head from time to time like most people more than likely do, and I see these bands adding me (kids with keyboards) every single day, usually 10 a day.

I think this board should share their interesting "myspace" finds and let us ALL know about some of the great "bands" out there. This could be fun in a very demeaning sort of way.

excellent...

I suppose a good idea would be to point out "good" AND "bad" recordings, just for reference right?

I'm the one who posted about "myspace bands"... I didn't mean to say that all bands on there are bad... its actually quite opposite.. some are very good... some have very good sounding recordings but very bad songs... some have cool songs with not so great recordings... However alot are SO BAD ITS FUNNY...
I'll post the craziest ones I find in this thread if you guys wanna do that... it'll make it easier to find them since sometimes when I'm really bored, and all recorded-out, or just wanting to feel better about myself I go on the prowl for them... sad existence I have...

I will be honored if you add me to your list, although I may not appear to be sufficiently earnest and/or young to actually appear pathetic at myspace - anyway, it is probably pretty obvious at my site that there is (at most) one of me.

Here are a few I am friends with. A couple of them I used to play music with.

MySpace has gotten me in touch with a bunch of old friends of mine, some of whom no longer live in this state. As far as the bad music... there's plenty of it at the CD shop too.

Here's my band. I recorded the songs on a Korg D1600 in my semi-finished basement. I think it came out OK but the drums are kind of iffy and the mix could probably be better. BUT our singer is sexy!

wax... is it me or is everybody missing the point of this thread?? WE ARE WANTING LINKS TO THE WORST FAKE BANDS ON MYSPACE!! Like the kind that's just a kid and his keyboard or even a real band that's just mindblowingly horrible yet seem to be totally serious... That's what I meant when I said "myspace bands" originally... "bands" made up of two kids in high school or whatever... also I think somebody seemed to think that I meant only or mostly kids but lord knows there are alot of self-delusional adults out there...
